The Lucky Stars (USA)

We just love these guys! Hailing from Hollywood, California they play fantastically written, beautifully played, witty, old fashioned western swing and old country all with a rockin’ beat. Singer Sage Guyton writes a mean song and always delivers a class vocal. The whole band is packed with high class talent.
Jeremy “J.W.” Wakefield (steel guitar, vocals)…of Wayne Hancock, Biller & Wakefield fame.
Dave “Pappy” Stuckey (drums, vocals)
Wally Hersom (bass fiddle)
Rusty Blake (guitar)
Dan Weinstein (fiddle/trumpet)

Check out their album.. “Stay Out All Night With The Lucky Stars“, it’s an essential addition to anyone’s rockin’ or roots collection.

The New T-Birds Line-up

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

I’ve just been lucky enough to have played in the support band for the new Fabulous Thunderbirds line-up at 4 shows in Germany.

The last line-up was amazing with Nick Curran (a favourite of mine) and Kirk Fletcher on guitars, but their recent replacements - Johnny Moeller and Mike Keller gel together and compliment each other SO well!

Left to right: Randy Bermudes, Johnny Moeller, Al Wallis, Kim Wilson, Mike Keller, Martin Vowles, Kevin Crowe, Vince Lee, Jason Moeller. Bonn, Germany.

If you get the chance, check out the new line-up, it’s special!

Jo Buddy & Downhome King III (Finland)

JO´ BUDDY has a very individual & personal style! His laidback music spreads joy of life, being simultaneously timeless, earthy & spiritual. It´s a raw, rootsy & wide open mixture of Ragtime, Down Home Blues, Old Spirituals, Boogie Woogie, Early Jazz, Western Swing, Country, Zydeco, Swamp Boogie, New Orleans Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Rock´n`Roll, Rockabilly, Garage Rock, Heartfelt Ballads…and even echoes from Western-African Rhythms & Spanish Flamenco!
His versatile live repertoire includes his worldclass original songs only!

For those who believe in life before this one, he’s sure that his previous life “took place” in NEW ORLEANS. He has made numerous pilgrim trips to that CRESENT CITY, always with his guitar as a companion. He even once got married there & has made friends with his music in different parts of EUROPE, USA & CANADA. Now, he already has over 1.900 gigs behind as a solo & with many, many line ups! Through the years he also has became familiar as a frontman with such bands like ONE O´CLOCK HUMPH (1985-98), GROOVY EYES (1993-), HELGE TALLQVIST BAND (2004-) & as a guitarist of TINY TONES (1997-) Check out his latest album - Whole Lotta Things To Do, it’s incredible!

“He´s one of the best guitar players in this world today!”
JUNIOR WATSON, Los Angeles, CA. USA (2002)
“A real lowdown bluesman!”
KIM WILSON of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, USA (2003)

Kaisers Orchestra

Hailing from Norway, this is a new band to me but not their many, many scandinavian fans. Expect pop heavily mixed with crazy tangos, tarentellas, pump organs, double bass, marimbas, Mark Ribot-esque guitar. They sing in Norwegian but with such great sounds, rhythms and a very cool creative edge it really doesn’t matter a jot, you hardly notice.

At times, musically they sound very Tom Waits (that’s the attraction for me). He’s a big fan so there’s some healthy mutual influencing going on here!

I can recommend the album OMPA TIL DU DOR. Check em out.

The Bonneville Barons

A relatively new super-Rockabilly dynamic duo (that’s right, i said duo!) based in South West of the UK who are a real treat at every level. Great musicians and songwriters who are re-defining what it means to play live as a duo. They’re slick and entertaining and present themselves so professionally, they make a wild sound too! Check out their debut album on Western Star Records called “The Guitar & Bullfiddle of..”

Chris Wilkinson handles the main vocals and (excellent) guitar, Yann Madjoub plays some brilliant double bass and also contributes to the vocals too. I love these guys, you should too! There’s a new CD, recorded January 2008 that’s due for a spring release, can’t wait to hear that one. We’ll be stocking it for sure!
