As you listen to this recording done in 1970 in a house with Gene’s buddy Arthur and a couple of friends for an audience I think you’ll get an appreciation of the song writing skills of this natural Austin talent. Mr. Snowden had a very unique way with words, similar to that of Tom T. Hall, Roger Miller, and Hank Williams. His songs could convey humor, pathos, and sadness with his mixing of words and rhymes. The tragedy he experienced in his struggle for musical recognition was there, something I know about, yet, it doesn’t linger for long. He would open up another six pack, get on to a different song and the laughter would explode. To me this versitility and spirit in his music definitely makes Gene Snowden “Austin´s Original Hillbilly Poet” and a great artist.

Dressed up with Sombreros, upright bass, two guitars and typical trumpet they guys show us their amazing mix of Texmex, Rockabilly, Country souped up with that special Mariachi-Sound!

Everything began with the decision of Harold´s father Hector to move to Texas. Harold and his cousin Ray Campi came close, and long weekends were spend at Harold´s house, listenng to many Country and Hillbilly music.
Around 1947, Harold took an employment at the nearby Coca Cola plant on W.6th Street . Many of his “Coke Buddie´s” like Buddy Wyatt, “Slim” Hendricks and Chick started to join the sessions at Harold´s house regularly.
The first recordings Ray and Harold ever made were cut on W. 6th Street from 1949 to 1951 by Ray´s friend Jack Mc Graw.
Harold Layman´s song´s reflect his love to Newfoundland and Texas.
His style is traditional Hillbillyand the “Coca Cola Routeman” had friends all over central Texas. He was a passionate musician, and Harold Layman was loved by everybody who knew him.

The Kentucky Boys' wild stage show even gave them the opportunity to support German stars like Ted Herold or Truck Stop, and also to see a prison from the inside - but, of course, only to entertain the inmates.... But how to describe their style....?

They prefer British Rockabilly – Rock 'n' Roll, but you can't just put them into the Teddy Boy category. Their unconventional Kentucky Boys style ranges from Country to Rhythm & Blues including a lot of their own songs, some of which have already been covered., The own songs Wild Cruisin’ Cat, TEDS, No Name etc., but also covers like Jack The Ripper, Passenger or Teddy Boy are well-established parts of Record Hops all over the world. The Boys are influenced by Gene Vincent, Jerry Lee Lewis, Cash, Elvis ..........The Blasters, Fabulous Thunderbirds , George Thorogood........... and even the great Revival R 'n' R bands of the 70's.

An excessive way of live and their spontaneous and funny characters drive audiences crazy, everytime and everywhere where Rock 'n' Roll is still alive.

This CD contains the usual eclectic bundle of self penned songs and unusual cover version of songs that has been a mainstay of their repetoire for the last 14 years. They include a vocal version of Misirlou - influenced more by the Cardinals than by Dick Dale; A thumping strolling version of "I'm Shakin'" by Little Willie John, a plaintive reading of "My Poor Old Heart" - a song by Alison Krauss and others by artists as diverse as Feliciano, Asleep At The Wheel and the Deep River Boys (their haunting version of "I Wish I Had Died In My Cradle"). It's taken almost 5 years of pestering to get the band back into the recording studio and it's well worth the wait.

The beginning of Johnny Loda’s career as a rockabilly guitarist and singer dates back to the 1982 when as a sixteen-years-old boy he gave life to his first band, Nervous Kids and The Thunderbolts.
In 2004 Johnny Loda recorded his first long playing cd as solo artist, titled “That’s me!!!” for the Swiss label “Blue Lake Records”. The cd was such a success and it was well appreciated by the critics and, most of all, by the people of Johnny’s audience.
After this recording, the critics has defined Johnny Loda as one of the best Rock’n Roll and Rockabilly guitar players of Italy and Europe.
In the same year, Johnny found out the two perfect elements he was looking for to realize his new musical projects, Matteo “the Babbaiù” Rorato on Double Bass and Severino “Tommy” Tomasella on the drums. The new trio was called “Johnny Loda & the Echorecs”.
